This vintage Moroccan rug was made by raw virgin wool, made up of several Berber patterns and an interesting combination of colors. The variety of models and colors looks even more aesthetic.
brief history of the Berber carpet
Each tribe had their own unique dyes, weaves, loops, knots and patterns which made each rug unique but above all recognizable by initiate collectors and craft enthusiasts around the world.
Berber Rugs have been found in royal castles and in bourgeois houses all over Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Known for their beauty and uniqueness, these beautiful Berber rugs ended up on display rather than being thrown to the ground in many cases. They can be found in museums, in collectors' houses or in families who have preserved the artisanal heritage represented by these rugs.
There are still families in Morocco today who work to make these rugs with the same traditional and artisanal techniques.
